Research Team for the mapping of Baluchistan's natural resources and mines
The occupied land of Baluchistan includes part of the south and southeastern Iran, south and western Pakistan and southwestern Afghanistan. Baluchistan is about twice the size of Norway. Baluchistan is rich in natural resources including many types of minerals and is the supplier of natural gas to Pakistan.
In spite of these resources, the natural inhabitants, the Baluch people, are among the poorest people in the world. The resources and wealth of the Baluchistan region and the Baluch people are being controlled and exploited by non-Baluchies . Those in power in Afghanistan, Iran or Pakistan are, in cooperation with foreign public and private companies, cynically exploiting the resources for their own benefit while the Baluchies are becoming steadily poorer. Those exploiting Baluchistan´s rich resources are not interested in informing the outside world about the wealth of the natural resources in Baluchistan, but are, however, repeatedly reporting that the region is poor and in need of aid.
The economic situation of Baluch people and the exploitation Baluchistan ´s natural resources demonstrates the necessity for establishing an independent, impartial body, which should collect information and monitor the situation of what happens to theses natural resources and the minerals.
Establishing a research team for the collection of facts about the natural resources in Baluchistan and for monitoring what is happening to them is an answer to this. The team should consists of experts in the field, working with an aim to bring light on the facts about these matters. It is mportant to collect all such information in a database. The database should focus on documenting the enormous wealth of the Baluchi region, a wealth that, today, does not result in any benefits for the Baluch people.
The information that will be collected is aimed at the Baluch people so as to increase their own awareness of the grave situation and towards the international society and organizations like the UN and human rights organizations. The research team will also work to create a greater interest among the world´s media for situation in the Baluchistan and help in bringing the case of the Baluch people on the agenda of the international society.
